What Does Greenguard Gold Certified Mean?
When something's GREENGUARD Gold Certified, it's all about making sure the air you breathe is as clean and safe as possible.
These certified products are made to emit less of the bad stuff, keeping the air inside your place fresh and healthy for you and your crew.
All Cast & Bevel products are tested for over 15,000 VOCs that can mess with indoor air quality.
Most of the chemicals we encounter every day seep into the air we breathe indoors – whether we're chilling at home, hustling at work, or studying at school. These chemicals, called volatile organic compounds (VOCs), are found in everything from the stuff we build with to our favorite cleaning products and skincare. Studies from the EPA and other researchers show that indoor spaces can have way more VOCs than the great outdoors--up to a thousand times more!
Indoor air can be a cocktail of hundreds of different VOCs at any given time. Some might give off funky smells even at low levels, while others fly under the radar without a scent. Many VOCs can be real irritants, causing headaches, making our eyes, noses, and throats feel uncomfortable, and even leaving us dizzy. And if we're exposed to certain VOCs for a long time, they could lead to serious health issues like chronic diseases or even cancer. So, when we're decking out our indoor spaces, it's essential to think about the impact our choices have on the air we breathe.
The Greenguard Certification program has set up test methods and limits on emissions for various types of products, such as building materials, flooring, electronics, and more. Greenguard certifies that VOC emissions are below a certain threshold, which will make your indoor environments safer and healthier.
Greenguard Gold Certification Standard has health-based guidelines for extra chemicals and demands even lower levels of total VOC emissions to make sure products are safe for places like schools and hospitals. Along with controlling emissions from over 360 VOCs and total chemical emissions, Greenguard Gold Certified products also need to meet the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method for testing and evaluating VOC emissions, known as California Section 01350.
