How to Install Lighting with Ceiling Tiles

Recessed or Can Lights

Recessed or can lights mounted on the grid work effectively with Cast & Bevel ceiling tiles. Select a ceiling pattern with a sizable flat area in the middle to accommodate the light opening and trim ring. Ensure the light fixture includes a grid-suspension bracket to support its weight on the grid, rather than on the tile itself.

For coffered ceiling tiles such as Piazza and Coffered Square, additional installation steps may be necessary when using recessed or can lights. If you need guidance on this, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Low-Profile LED (Puck) Lights

While we recommend recessed or can lighting with LED bulbs over low-profile LED puck lights, Cast & Bevel panels can work with the latter. Please contact us for more information if you'd like to use puck lights with your new ceiling panels.

Transluminous™ Panels Beneath Light Fixtures

Cast & Bevel Translucent, Frosted, and Clear panels offer versatile options for your ceiling design. They can be placed beneath light fixtures or across the entire installation for a fully illuminated ceiling effect. Translucent and Frosted panels create a diffused look, obscuring the area above your suspended ceiling grid. Clear panels, while not completely transparent like a window, allow for full visibility of everything above them.

For optimal results:

  • Install panels at least 6 inches below lights.
  • Use LED bulbs/fixtures for energy efficiency.
  • Consider pairing Translucent and Frosted panels with AcoustoTherm® Backpanels

Surface Mounted Lights

Surface mounted lights that are designed for installation onto a standard electrical light box can be installed using the appropriate type of grid-supported light box hangers. These types of light box hangers span the tile and clip onto the grid. The light box is then attached to hanger, allowing you to connect the light fixture through the tile and into the electrical light box. If you need specific guidance on this, then please contact us with more project-specific information.
